Best Creation Summertime Blog Hop!!!

Grab your suntan lotion and a towel and get ready for a fun summertime hop to get some great ideas to get caught up with all of your old summer photos. This blog hop is full of lots of inspiring ideas to use for your upcoming photos from this summer too! Of course we have lots of chances to win our new June releases and the fantastic 6x6 mini pads too! Be sure to leave a comment on either the Best Creation Facebook page or the Best Creation Blog or sign up as a new follower for your chance to win! And of course all of us DT members love to hear from you too so leave us some comments along the way!

Now, I don't know about all of you, but my summer seems to be full of get-togethers and birthday parties so I created a party themed layout from my son's birthday using the Birthday Party collection along with the blue background and clouds from the Surf's Up collection. I also added a little bit of felt behind a couple of the Best Creation stickers to add a bit of dimension. I used the Helmar 450 Quick Dry which worked just perfectly to adhere the felt to the sticker and also the background paper. This is my go to glue and I absolutely love it!!

Up next in this summertime blog hop is that super talented Tina McDonald.
Have a wonderful weekend! LOVES :) -Sarah

Our Weekend In Photos

Hi everyone!!

I haven't shared photos in soooooo long, and that's definitely something I need to step up on. The kids are growing at a ridiculous rate and although I do take tons of photos (way too many photos actually), I definitely need to share more of those here on my blog. So, this past weekend was our first real summer-like weekend here in central Indiana that didn't involve rain. Our weather has been all over the place, and if it's not rain then it's still just too stinkin' cold to get outdoors. I finally was able to purchase my flowers for the yard this weekend....WoooHoooo!!! Planting my flowers is usually my annual Mother's Day treat, but this year has been so cold and rainy that I just haven't been able to get outside to do it. It's been hard just to keep the yard mowed because of all this crazy rain!! Anyway, this past weekend was just absolutely GORGEOUS so we started off with mowing our yard because it so desperately needed a good trim with all of the rain we've been having, and of course Carter had to help Daddy :) ...so cute!!

Carter had to take a break about half way through helping Daddy mow the backyard because the poor little guy overheats quickly, so he sat himself down with a juice pack and then he was back in business!!

The next order of business was cleaning out our shop vac. Steve gave Carter the hose to spray out the inside of the vac, and as most of you know, giving a 2 year old a hose will either end in lots of fun or lots of trouble....in this case it ended in lots of fun, thank goodness!! Carter ended up talking big sis, Emmy, into putting on his swimming trunks and then he proceeded to climb right into the vac full of water, which then lead me to getting out his baby pool from last summer (boy this poor kid sure needs a swimming pool upgrade!) Becca and Emmy decided to lay out for a little while since everyone was outside enjoying the sun, and when Carter saw Becca in her sunglasses of course he had to have his sunglasses on too....love this pic!!

Even Bodey joined the fun, but he was a little scared of the mower which is why he's standing in the mulch around the tree :)
My goofball daughter!! :)
We ended the day with cooking some hamburgers on the grill (the first grilled dinner of the season!) and then a little baseball with Daddy and Carter in the front yard before bedtime.

Ahhhh, it was such a wonderful weekend!!

Donna Salazar Springtime Card

Hello everyone, Sarah here to share with you a card that I

created using the Donna Salazar "Spring In Bloom" line.

I absolutely love the colors and patterns of these papers!

Flowers, rustic wood, blue jeans, and lace...I'm mean how

much better does it get?!! I also added a little sparkle and

shine to some of the elements of this card by using my

Glue Gloss on the tips of the butterfly wings to add the

Fairy Dust Glitter in Pralines & Cream. I also spritzed all of

the cut out paper flowers with lots of Pralines & Cream

Smooch Spritz to add some gorgeous shimmer to all of the

flowers. I absolutely love the shimmer when it catches the light!
And to highlight the edges of the paper and cut outs, I inked

the edges with my Color Q Cat's Eye Stackers in Dark Brown & Chesnut Roan.

Supplies:

-Spring In Bloom 12x12 Paper Pad, -Smooch Spritz in Pralines & Cream,

-Fairy Dust Glitter in Pralines & Cream, - Glue Gloss liquid adhesive,

-Color Q Cat's Eye Ink Stackers in Dark Brown and Chesnut Roan,

-tape runner from Helmar, -marker from EK Success, -vintage lace

Sharing Some Best Creation FUN!!!

Hi everybody!!!

The Best Creation Design Team has been busy busy busy creating tons of fun layouts and projects with the new BC collections. Recently, I worked with the Robot and Gone Camping lines. I used the Robot collection which also has tons of patterns with gadgets and outer space to create this page of my little guy, Carter, flying a paper airplane for the first time...

I also created this layout for my little guy, Carter, using photos of him sleeping (more like playing) in his toddler bed for the first night. I used the night sky patterns from the Gone Camping line to focus on this bedtime themed layout.

Head on over to the Best Creation Blog to check out all of the fantastic pages and projects that the rest of the DT has been creating!! Have a fantastic Friday and a great weekend!

Echo Park "Fresh Faces Campaign"

Hi everyone!! Well, I'm giving it a try...I'm throwing my hat into the ring and trying out for Echo Park's "Fresh Faces Campaign". In case you haven't heard, Echo Park is accepting applications every month in search of guest designers. As I understand, one person will be chosen every month out of the applications to served as a guest designer for a month, how awesome is that?!! So, here are 3 examples of my work using three of Echo Park's lines. It was so hard chosing which layouts to submit to this campaign, but here are the three I settled on. I tried to chose the layouts that best fit my current style of scrapping which is usually a traditional background with lots of added layers, a bit of shabby chic elements, and sometimes a little whimsy.

#1. School Girls created with Echo Park's 'For The Record' line

-I used the yellow gingham as my background and inked portions of the background with a lime colored ink. -I then layered the large die cut paper and green floral print on the background, and I bordered the left with a black ruler print, ledger print, and hand cut banners placed in a vertical row. -I added a frame cut from pattern paper, journaling spot, and photos to the center of the page. Added a few borders that I cut from pattern paper to the top and bottom of the photos along with sticker borders, lace, and doily transparencies. -Final embellishments were added such as the numbers were punched from pattern paper and added to the sides of the photos to coordinate with the current grades that the girls were in, flowers and butterflies were added, and title and date stickers were added along with the large bird sticker just over the title. I also added faux stitching to some elements.

Supplies: -Echo Park's 'For The Record' line including pattern paper, journaling spots, and stickers -Prima flowers -title stickers from American Crafts -yellow butterfly stickers from Jenni Bowlin Studios

#2. My Loves created with Echo Park's 'Be Mine' line.

-I used pink and green ink to tint the background paper. -I added my photos at an angle with strips of patter paper and ribbon under the photos. -I added flowers, doily transparencies, and gemstone flourishes around the photos to embellish. I also hand cut banners from pattern paper and added them above the right side of the photos. -I cut border strips and flourishes from pattern paper to accent the bottom right of the page. I used alpha stickers to add the title, and also punched butterflies from pattern paper to use as accents.

Supplies: -Echo Park's 'Be Mine' line including pattern paper, stickers, and alphas. -flowers and gemstones from Prima and Petaloo -doily transparencies from Prima packaging -punches from EK Success, Kreaxions, and McGill

#3. Sunshine Makes Me Happy created using Echo Park's 'Springtime' line.

-I used the pink patterned paper as my background and layered a sheet of white cardstock on top spritzed with pink mist. -I added light blue pattern paper with a scalloped fabric sticker at the bottom as a background for my photos and journaling. -I used stickers, flowers, punches, and ribbon to embellish the top left and bottom right of the page. -I then added journaling strips to the negative space to the right of photos. -The top and bottom edges of white cardstock were accented with strips cut from pattern paper and a sticker cut off of the title sticker which was placed just above the photos.

Supplies: -Echo Park's 'Springtime' line including pattern paper and stickers. -fabric stickers and flowers from Little Yellow Bicycle -punches from McGill -mist from Maya Road

I hope that you have enjoyed seeing my work using Echo Park's fantastic lines. I absolutely love their pattern papers and coordination sticker sheets that make creating a lovely page so easy!!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Welcome Home

Hello everyone, Sarah here to share with you an adorable little

rusty birdhouse that I decorated with the gorgeous Donna Salazar

I created this house warming gift for a friend who, like
many people right now, is moving to a new home and I thought this spring themed house warming gift would be just perfect. I added some shimmer and shine by spritzing the pink cut out flower with the Pralines & Cream Smooch Spritz. Then, I used my Glue Gloss to add glue to the tips of the butterfly wings and also the centers of the rolled flowers in order to add a bit of sparkle with the Pralines & Cream Fairy Dust Glitter. Here are step-by-step instructions
for creating these quick and easy fringed rolled paper flowers.

1. Cut a thin strip of paper approximately 1/4" wide by 6" long.

2. Roll the strip of paper fairly tightly and ad adhesive to the endof the strip so the roll of paper does not unwind.

3. Use scissors to cut slits through the roll of paper from the center

out toward the edge. You will cut about 6-8 slits all the way around.

4. Fan out the flower where the slits were cut, this creates the look
of fringe. Finish the flower by adding an accent to the center.

Supplies:

-Spring In Bloom 12x12 Paper Pad, -Smooch Spritz in Pralines & Cream,

-Fairy Dust Glitter in Pralines & Cream, -Glue Gloss Liquid Adhesive,

-tape runner from Helmar, -vintage lace

I just love adding these little flowers to my projects. I hope you will try them too!! Have a wonderful day! My Blog: Welcome To My Neighborhood
